America's Cup returns home restored.

The America's Cup has been fully restored and returned to New Zealand. And the painstaking work has been done free by Garrards, the Crown jeweller in London.

The prestigious trophy was damaged in a sledge hammer attack at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron on March 14 . Garrards made the trophy 150 years ago and still had the original drawings.

Squadron commodore Mr John Heise called the gesture not to charge for the restoration an "extremely generous and gracious one." The managing director of the jewellers, Mr Richard Jarvis, formally handed back the trophy to the Commodore at a ceremony at the squadron's headquarters in Auckland.

The Minister for Sport, Fitness and Leisure, the Hon Murray McCully, also welcomed the return of the trophy .

America's Cup Challenge Association, LTD ("ACCA") is the Organizing Authority of the Challenger Selection Series for the next America's Cup Match. The company is owned by all eighteen of the Challenging Clubs.
